FAQ

What products do you use?

To ensure that there is no damage to clothing no oils are used during any treatments.  The massages take place above light clothing so there is also no need to undress.

How long do the treatments last?

The massage treatments range from 10 – 30 minutes in duration and the more people there are the shorter the massages tend to be.  For example a small office of 6 people would usually have 20 – 30 minute massages whereas a call centre with over 1000 employees would tend to have 10 or 15 minute treatments.

How much space is required?

Not much – only a small 5′ x 6′ area is needed for the therapist to set up the massage chair and have enough room to move around comfortably.

Will the massages make people too relaxed to work effectively?

In a nut shell, no.  All treatments have been designed to be relaxing at first to help employees unwind and de-stress.  Towards the end of the treatment your therapist will stimulate the senses so that you feel invigorated and refreshed.

Who are your therapists?

Offic Retreat works with only the best independent massage providers across the UK who are trained and experienced in chair massage. We carefully screen, interview and check references for all massage therapists.

Are your therapists insured?

You have our guarantee that our therapists are always fully insured. When you confirm your booking you will automatically receive a copy of current insurance documents.

What will we need to provide?

If you have chosen on site chair massage then no equipment is required.  Simply tell your therapist(s) where to set up their equipment and they will quickly get to work.

If the treatments are taking place at people’s desks please ensure that suitable chairs are available.  The ideal chair is comfortable to sit in, has no wheels and is height adjustable. Chairs with lower back rests are also preferred as these give better access to the recipient’s upper back area.

Please also ensure that your therapist(s) have access to refreshments including water and bathroom facilities throughout their visit.

Are the treatments suitable for everyone?

Before any treatment is given your therapist will ask several health questions to ensure that the treatment is suitable for the client.  The therapist will apply their usual professional discretion and will politely decline anyone that the treatment is not suitable for.

What breaks do we need to allow for?

Ensuring the heath and safety of your therapist whilst at your premises includes ensuring they take sufficient breaks.
Each therapist decides when they will require a break and they will discuss this with the designated point of contact to ensure that all scheduled massage treatments run efficiently and on time.

As massage therapy is physically demanding and to protect against joint injuries such as RSI all therapists are advised to take 1.25 hours for 7 hour events, 1 hour for 6 hours, 45 minutes for 5 hours, 30 minutes for 4 hours and 15 minutes for 3 hour bookings.

When will I have to pay the invoice?

Once your booking has been confirmed an invoice will be sent via first class post to the billing address provided.   Our payment terms are 2 weeks from the date the booking was confirmed and full payment must be received no later than 7 days prior to the date of your event.

Do you provide therapists for  corporate events?

Yes, you may also book any number of therapists for a range of promotional events such as:

  • Exhibitions and tradeshows
  • Conferences
  • Marketing events
  • As a gift for a corporate client

Who normally pays for the visits?

We recommend that for regular visits the company pays most of the cost and the employee pays a nominal sum. This is to make sure people don’t book treatments and forget to turn up. Each company is different and this should be discussed prior to setting up a long term agreement.

Are there discounts if I want to make this a regular event?

Yes.  Weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly visits are all subject to a regular visit discount.  Simply select the desired frequency of visits when placing your order online and the respective discount will automatically be applied to your booking.

Does chair massage have any contraindications?

Yes. Medical contraindications include but are not limited to: uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes, fractures, herniated discs, malignancy, numbness or tingling in any part of the body, especially the hands and feet. Please inform your massage therapist of any acute or ongoing health conditions before the chair massage.

How do I give feedback?

After your visit you will receive an email with a link to an online feedback form which may be used to provide feedback on your recent experience.
